Q. How long does it take?
A. This depends on the circumstances of each matter. If you are a cash buyer and there is no chain involved then it is possible that the matter can be completed within three to four weeks. If however there is a chain of transactions and/or mortgage facilities are required (probably 95% of matters) then time scales can vary enormously. The aftermath of the credit crunch is still being felt. Surveyors are overly cautious and are highlighting a number of matters which may or may not need attention. Mortgage companies are also overly cautious and in some cases it is taking over three months for mortgage offers to be issued. As a result, it takes between three to four months before matters can be completed.
